Welcome to Avalon Grove

Much of the information here comes from a Celtic people who live today as they have lived for thousands of years, in a land known as Tir na n'Og, the original Garden of Eden.

Eleanor Fortescue-Bricksdale, The Lovers' World, 1905 They are known by many names: Brownies, Elves, Fae, Faeries, Fair Family, Fair Folk, Fairies, Gnomes, Good People, Hidden Folk, Leprechauns, Little People, People of the Mound, Pixies, Pookas, Sidhe, Sprites, Tsalagi, Tylwyth Teg, Tuatha De Danaan, or Yunwi Tsundi.

We want to tell you how we first came to meet the people of the Celtic Faerie.

We are a husband and wife (David and Carol), and we have been married since 1987. Our experiences with the faerie folk began in 1997 in a town called Cary, located near Raleigh in North Carolina. David was watching TV when two gnomes stepped in front of the television set and introduced themselves. At first he thought it was just his imagination, but after repeated visits from these gnomes, followed by other gnomes, elves, sprites, and many more members of the faerie tribes, he finally began to accept that they really were not just his imagination. You see, David has what you might call second sight, so he often sees and hears with his spirit senses. He eventually told Carol about his experiences, and she became quite fascinated and wanted to learn more. After that, David began to act as something of a faerie translator, repeating to Carol what was being told to him by the fair folk.

"... autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower ..."

Leaf from Avalon Grove in Western NCA few years later, we determined it was time to leave the lowlands and move to the North Carolina mountains near Asheville, where we continue to interact on a daily basis with those we now call our faerie family. They refer to us as Merlin and Lili (short for Ealilithea) the names by which they knew us long ago.

Gnomes in the Garden: Celtic Faerie Teachings by David and Carol Swing Based on the faeries' teachings on Celtic spirituality, we formed a Celtic Christian home church called Avalon Grove, which meets eight times a year to honor the Celtic holidays. The Celtic Owl by David Swing We also authored two books on the fair folk, Gnomes in the Garden and The Celtic Owl

As David's intuitive and psychic abilities grew, he began to offer intuitive counseling sessions and faerie workshops. Around that same time, Carol began to paint faeries.

So there you have it - a brief synopsis of how we came to know and love faeries in this modern, technology-filled world. We have found it to be a long and interesting journey, but it's not over yet. We invite you to continue reading to find out more about faeries and how you might even meet some yourself.  And then step outside, away from the computer, to greet Mother Earth and her faerie children.
